If you're looking for a bright, easy-to-read OLED display for a Raspberry Pi (most likely a Pi Zero) project, this could be just the thing for you!

The Adafruit 2.23" Monochrome OLED Bonnet for Raspberry Pi is a nifty OLED buddy, that can be plugged onto any Raspberry Pi to create a vibrant display. The Bonnet comes with a monochrome OLED with a diagonal of 2.13" and 128x32 pixels, with sharp white pixels. The OLED has the I2C pins plus GPIO #4 for reset, so you have plenty of GPIO connections available for buttons, LEDs, sensors, etc. It sits nice and flat so in many enclosures that have an open top, this display can be used.

Compared to the similar PiOLED display, this OLED has the same resolution but is much larger so it can be read from across the room. This screen consists of 128x32 individual white OLED pixels and as the display generates its own light, no backlight is required. This reduces the power required to run the OLED and is the reason why the display has such high contrast; we really like OLED displays for their sharpness!

Using the display is very simple, we have a Python library for the SSD1305 chipset. With our sample code you can use the Python imaging library to draw images, text or whatever you want . Our tests showed 30 FPS refresh rates, so you can make animations or simple videos.

Comes fully pre-assembled and tested, so all you need to do is plug it in and install our Python code! Works with any Raspberry Pi computer that has a 2x20 connector, such as the Pi B+, Pi 2, Pi 3, Pi 4 and Pi Zero (and any others that have a 2x20 connector!)

On the bottom is a Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for I2C sensors and devices, so you can connect and play any of our STEMMA QT devices.

Please note that OLED displays are made up of hundreds of...OLEDs! This means that each pixel is a small organic LED, and if left on for over 1000 hours it will start to dim. If you want to keep the display uniformly bright, please turn off the display (switch off the pixels) when it is not needed to keep them from dimming.

Light comes into the dark with Adafruit NeoPixel
