Product information "Adafruit Mini "Pager" geared motor with return spring"
These are very unusual motors, but we thought they might be handy for projects that need a small geared motor. The centrepiece is a "pager motor" - a small, thin DC motor that runs at around 3VDC. This motor is then driven down inside the red plastic body of the motor. Finally, the output shaft is connected to a plastic triangle that has a return spring made of bent wire. There are two plastic stops on the outside of the motor.
If you leave the plastic triangle attached to the motor, you can "swing" the motor back and forth by applying forward or reverse voltage. The switch will move about 60 degrees off centre (120 degrees total). When you disconnect the power, the self-centring spring brings the triangle back to the centre.
You can also remove the triangle part and, as you can see in our animation above, you get a normal rotary axis that you can use to turn something small.
