The biggest NeoPixel ring yet! With four of them you can build a huge ring with 60 ultra-bright, intelligent LEDs. The NeoPixels are arranged in a circle with a diameter of 15.7 cm. Only the quarter circle is supplied with each order. Four of these items are needed to make a large ring. You will also need to solder them together, so for the full ring with 60 LEDs, buy four and solder them together! You will also need to support these mechanically, the solder joints are for electrical signals only, not strong enough to hold them together

The rings are 'daisy chainable' - connect the output pin of one to the input pin of the other. Only use one microcontroller pin to control as many as you can daisy chain together! Each LED is addressable as the driver chip is inside the LED. Each has a ~18mA constant current driver, so the colour is very consistent even if the voltage varies, and no external choke resistors are required, making the design slim. Power the whole thing with 5VDC (4-7V works) and you are ready to rock.

There is a single data line with a very timing specific protocol. Since the protocol is very timing sensitive, it requires a real-time microcontroller such as a AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. It cannot be used with a Linux-based microcomputer or an interpreted microcontroller such as the netduino or Basic Stamp. Our beautifully written Neopixel library for Arduino supports these pixels! Since it requires hand-tuned assembly, it is intended for AVR cores only, but others may have ported this chip driver code. An 8MHz or faster processor is required.
