CAN-BUS is a common industrial bus characterised by long transmission distances, medium communication speed and high reliability. It is often used as a diagnostics bus in the automotive industry and is also common in modern machine tools. This CAN bus shield adds CAN bus capabilities to the Arduino platform. It utilises the Microchip MCP2515 CAN controller with MCP2551 CAN transceiver. The CAN connection is made via a standard 9-pin sub-D connector, ideal for use with OBD-II cables in automotive applications. The shield also features a micro SD card holder to store diagnostic data directly to the SD card, making it ideal for data logger applications.
