Elecrow Crowtail-PIR Motion Sensor 2.0
The Elecrow Crowtail-PIR Motion Sensor 2.0 is a passive infrared sensor for motion detection. The sensor detects movement within a detection angle of 120 degrees and emits a digital HIGH signal at the SIG pin when movement is detected. The maximum detection range is 6 metres, with a default setting of 3 metres. The range can be adjusted using an integrated potentiometer on the circuit board.

The module is suitable for safety applications, automatic switches and control systems in automation. The crowtail-compatible interface and the JST-PH 2.0 4-pin connector enable a direct connection to a microcontroller or a crowtail base shield. The sensor can be programmed directly to trigger a reaction in the event of movement, for example to switch on an LED.

A passive infrared sensor (PIR) detects temperature differences caused by moving bodies in the detection area. Such sensors are often used to detect movement. The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted using the potentiometer on the circuit board so that different distances can be detected.

Seeed Grove - mini PIR motion sensor The Grove - mini PIR motion sensor is a compact, low-power passive infrared (PIR) sensor that is suitable for applications with lower detection range requirements. It has a Grove-compatible interface and supports both Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms. The dimensions are 20 mm × 20 mm × 12 mm. According to the data sheet, the detection range is up to 3 m to 5 m, whereby 2 m at an ambient temperature of 25 °C is specified as the recommended distance. The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted via a prepared solder pad for a sliding potentiometer. In addition, the sensitivity can be increased by slightly lifting the plastic cover. A passive infrared sensor measures the infrared radiation emitted by objects in the detection area. PIR sensors are often used in motion detectors for security systems and automatic lighting. They have two detector elements made of sensitive material. In the idle state, both detectors receive the same amount of infrared radiation, for example from the surroundings, walls or outdoor areas. If a person or animal enters the detection area, the first half of the detector is illuminated, resulting in a positive difference between the two halves.
