Elecrow Crowtail Strain Gauge Sensor 2.0
The Elecrow Crowtail Strain Gauge Sensor 2.0 is a module for measuring strain on an object. It uses the BF350-3AA strain gauge to measure mechanical stress and is equipped with an integrated amplifier and a potentiometer to calibrate the measurement result. The module can be used with microcontrollers such as Arduino to obtain precise measurement values for various applications.

This module is used in areas such as mechanical engineering and structural monitoring to measure deformations caused by mechanical loads. For example, a typical application is to monitor the load distribution on a bridge or to measure physical stresses proportional to the load. Although the sensor does not measure temperatures directly, it can be influenced by temperature - which should be taken into account during calibration.

The module can also be used in everyday applications, e.g. to control a traffic light circuit. An example would be a seldom-travelled side road that only receives a green phase at a junction when a vehicle is detected. The module is equipped with a crowtail port, allowing it to be connected directly to compatible microcontrollers.

  • Hidden anti-theft device: Integrated into furniture or shelves, the sensor recognises whether an object has been removed or moved and triggers a silent alarm.
  • Seat occupancy sensor for smart offices: Measures the load on a chair or sofa - ideal for automatic room occupancy displays or intelligent energy management.
  • Plant monitoring by weight: The sensor measures the weight of a flower pot. If this falls below a defined threshold value, this signals a low water level. After watering, the weight increases accordingly - so the watering quantity can be precisely recorded and automatically controlled in future.
Thanks to the integrated JST-PH 2.0 4-pin connector, the sensor can be easily and securely connected to microcontrollers or other compatible systems. The JST connector ensures a stable connection and facilitates integration into existing crowtail or DIY projects.
