FLIRC is a USB infrared receiver that works on all platforms, such as Windows, Mac or Linux. The special thing about FLIRC is that it works with 99% of all infrared remote controls. No matter whether Apple Remote, Sony BRAVIA remote control or video recorder remote control.
How does FLIRC work?
FLIRC is simply connected to a USB port on your computer and is recognised by your operating system as a keyboard. No special drivers are required to install FLIRC. You only need to familiarise your remote control with FLIRC once. This is done using a configuration programme, which you can download free of charge from www.flirc.tv.
How does the configuration work?
The configuration is very simple and takes just a few minutes. You can choose between different controllers in the configuration programme (arrow keys, full keyboard, Boxxee, XBMC or Windows Media Center). You then click on a button in the programme that you want to record and then press the button on the remote control that you want to assign to this command. You can memorise individual key commands as well as key combinations!
Where is the configuration stored?
The FLIRC configuration is not stored on the computer, but in the dongle itself. However, it is still possible to create a backup of the configuration and transfer it to another computer.

Can I use FLIRC with the Raspberry Pi?
Yes! FLIRC works with the Raspberry Pi without any problems. You just need to configure your remote control with FLIRC on a PC or Mac beforehand.

Idee ist super und funktionier...
Idee ist super und funktioniert auch weitestgehend. Bei einer alten Reel-Fernbedienung, die ich eigentlich einsetzen wollte, wurden alle Tasten als die selben erkannt. Mit einer kompatiblen Fernbedienung jedoch läuft die Sache wie geschmiert.

Habe den Empfänger mit drei unterschiedliche Fernbedienungen probiert. Könnte bei keiner dieser Fernbedienungen alle Tasten korrekt erkennen. Habe den Artikel widerrufen
