Unlike most other temperature sensors, this sensor measures the infrared light reflected from distant objects, so it can measure the temperature without having to physically touch them.
Simply point the sensor at the object you want to measure and it will determine the temperature by absorbing the emitted infrared waves. As it does not need to touch the object to be measured, it can detect a wider temperature range than most digital sensors! The measurement is made over a 90 degree field of view so you can determine the average temperature of an area.
The MLX90614 is factory calibrated for a wide temperature range: -40 to 125 ?C for the ambient temperature and -70 to 380 °C for the object temperature.
Connection with M5Core via GROVE A I2C(0x5A).
