Seeed Grove - Digital Light Sensor - TSL2561 for Arduino Compatible
This module is based on the I2C light-to-digital converter TSL2561, which converts light intensity into a digital signal. It offers three selectable sensing modes (infrared mode, full spectrum mode and human visible mode) and enables the measurement of light changes under different lighting conditions with many common microcontrollers. The TSL2561 is controlled and monitored via sixteen registers (three of which are reserved) and one command register, which are accessible via the serial interface. These registers enable various control functions and can be read out to determine the results of the ADC conversions. Unlike conventional analogue light sensors, such as the Grove - Light Sensor, this digital module has a selectable light spectrum range using two light-sensitive diodes: Infrared and full spectrum. With the high resolution mode and a wide operating temperature range, the module can be used to detect light intensity changes under different lighting conditions. It supports connection to many popular microcontroller boards.

The module uses a digital sensor that can measure light in three different modes: Infrared mode, full spectrum mode and human visible mode. The infrared mode measures only infrared light, the full spectrum mode measures both visible and infrared light, while the human visible mode detects light similar to the human eye. The ability to select the measurement mode means that the behaviour of the sensor can be flexibly adapted to different lighting conditions.

Typical applications include ambient light measurement, display backlight control and keyboard illumination control.

The sensor supports a high resolution with a 16-bit digital output at 400 kHz I2C fast mode and is able to measure light levels in a wide dynamic range from 0.1 to 40,000 lux. In addition, the sensor has a programmable interrupt function with user-defined upper and lower limit settings. The Grove standard connection system enables simple and fast connection ("plug and play") and supports a wide range of applications within the Grove product series.

By connecting the SenseCAP S2110 Controller and the S2100 Data Logger, the module can be extended to a LoRaWAN sensor, enabling applications in the industrial sector. The SenseCAP series offers robust solutions with IP66 housing, Bluetooth configuration, global LoRaWAN network compatibility, built-in 19 Ah battery and comprehensive app support for various industrial applications such as soil moisture measurement, air temperature and humidity measurement, light intensity measurement as well as CO2 and EC measurements.
