The Grove - IR (Infrared) Receiver is used to receive infrared signals and to recognise remote control signals. The module is based on the TSOP382 and contains an integrated demodulator that is specially tuned to modulated IR signals at 38 kHz. The signal reception range is up to 10 metres in free space. The product is equipped with the standardised Grove interface and can therefore be integrated into various applications without additional soldering work.
Infrared detection is performed by the integrated sensor, which picks up infrared light emitted by an infrared emitter. The sensor only processes modulated signals in order to minimise interference from ambient light. The devices in the TSOP384 series are optimised to filter out almost all interference pulses from energy-saving light sources such as compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs).
The module can be used in systems that need to receive remote control signals, such as controllers, counters or card readers. Typical applications include remote control units with high power requirements, free air transfer systems or optical detection devices. The Grove standard allows easy integration into development platforms such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
The product receives coded infrared data sent by a remote control, for example, and converts it into an electrical signal that can be processed by the microcontroller. The internal demodulator is set to a fixed frequency (38 kHz), which enables reliable signal separation from sources of interference.
