Seeed Grove - PIR Motion Sensor
The Grove - PIR Motion Sensor (passive infrared sensor) is an electronic component for detecting infrared radiation emitted by objects within its field of view. The sensor can be easily integrated into projects via the Grove interface and can be used as a motion sensor for Arduino projects by connecting it to a base shield and programming it accordingly. PIR sensors are often used in security alarm systems and automatic lighting systems. A PIR sensor consists of a pyroelectric element that detects different levels of infrared radiation. If the sensor detects a change in the infrared radiation, a signal (HIGH) is emitted at the SIG pin.

The sensitivity and reaction speed can be adjusted using two potentiometers on the circuit board. The response time is between 0.3 and 25 seconds, the maximum range is 6 metres (3 metres standard). Thanks to its compact 20 x 40 mm design, the module is suitable for use in numerous devices and applications, both in the private and commercial sectors. It offers a low-cost, low-power and durable solution for motion detection.

This sensor detects motion by measuring thermal radiation emitted by people or other objects. The component can be used in a variety of ways, e.g. for automatic lighting control, security applications or presence detection. The sensor is compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms. Its range and response time can be adjusted manually. Its small size and simple connection make it suitable for compact electronics projects.

The sensor measures infrared light emitted by objects in its detection range. If it registers a change in the thermal radiation, it switches an output signal. Two adjustment controls allow the response time and range to be customised. The sensor is often installed in devices that need to detect movement, e.g. in lamps or alarm systems. Due to its small design, low power consumption and long service life, it is used in many applications.

A passive infrared sensor detects changes in heat within a range of up to 6 metres. It measures the infrared radiation emitted by people or animals. If the heat radiation in the detection area changes, the sensor recognises this as movement and emits a corresponding signal. The reaction speed can be set from 0.3 to 25 seconds. With a detection angle of 120 degrees, the device is suitable for various applications in the security and automation sector.
