The Grove VOC and eCO2 Gas Sensor SGP30 is an air quality sensor. Based on the SGP30, this module provides TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds) and CO2eq outputs with outstanding long-term stability and low power consumption. These features make it a suitable choice for indoor air quality sensing using Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
The Sensirion SGP30 is a multi-pixel digital gas sensor that can be easily integrated into air purifiers, on-demand ventilation and other IoT applications. Powered by Sensirion's CMOSens® technology, it integrates a complete sensor system on a single chip, including a digital I2C interface, a temperature-controlled microhotplate and two pre-processed air quality output signals. As the first metal oxide gas sensor with multiple sensing elements on a single chip, the SGP30 provides more detailed air quality information.
This sensor can be used directly with Grove compatible platforms such as Seeeduino or Arduino in conjunction with a base shield. Grove makes development much easier with a standardised connector and communication interface. The Grove platform offers over 400 modules for various applications.
The Grove VOC and eCO2 gas sensor SGP30 is used to monitor the quality of indoor air. It is suitable for integration into air purification devices, for demand-controlled ventilation systems and for monitoring air quality in new buildings. The sensor measures total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and calculated CO2 equivalent values (CO2eq). Data is recorded at a frequency of 1 Hz and is output via an I2C interface with the address 0x58. The supply voltage is either 3.3V or 5V.
