The Grove - Water Level Sensor is a capacitive sensor for the precise detection of liquid levels up to a height of 10 cm. The sensor is completely waterproof and utilises capacitive surfaces on the circuit board for level detection. These surfaces are provided with a protective coating to protect the module from moisture, dust, chemicals and high temperatures.
By using capacitive measurement technology, the sensor achieves a measurement accuracy of up to ±5 mm. The materials used are corrosion-resistant, making the sensor suitable for long-term use in various liquids. The standardised Grove interface ensures easy integration into existing systems. The sensor supports I2C communication and offers two selectable addresses (0x78 and 0x77).
The sensor is used to monitor liquid levels in tanks, containers or reservoirs. It is suitable for applications such as overflow warnings, level measurements and automation in DIY, Arduino or IoT projects. Thanks to its waterproof and chemical-resistant design, the sensor can also be used in demanding environments. During operation, it should be noted that the liquid must not protrude beyond the white marking, as this can lead to short circuits. In addition, the blue protective layer on the sensor surface should remain intact in order to avoid incorrect measurement results with conductive liquids.
The product recognises the height of a liquid by measuring how much the electrical capacitance changes on certain sensor surfaces. This measuring method does not require direct electrical contact with the liquid and is therefore insensitive to corrosion.
