What is an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) Breakout Board?

An OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) Breakout Board is a small circuit board specifically designed to facilitate the use of an OLED display in electronic projects or prototypes. OLED displays are popular in many applications because they offer high contrast ratio, wide viewing angles and low power consumption.

The breakout board typically contains the necessary components to drive the OLED display, such as a display controller, voltage regulator and possibly additional components required for the display to function properly. It has easily accessible connectors or headers that allow easy connection to microcontrollers or other electronic components.

What are the advantages of OLED breakout boards:

Simplified connection:

The breakout board's headers or connectors allow easy connection to microcontrollers or other devices without the need for complex circuitry or soldering.

Compatibility:

Breakout boards are often designed to be compatible with common microcontrollers such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi or ESP8266/ESP32. This makes it easier to integrate the OLED display into your projects.

Modularity:

By using a breakout board, you can easily replace the OLED display or use it in different projects without having to rebuild the entire circuit.

Fast commissioning:

OLED breakout boards usually come with pre-installed libraries or sample code to help you get started and get results quickly.

Explore our selection of OLED Breakout Boards now and see how they can give your microcontroller projects an appealing and easy-to-use visual representation.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced developer, our OLED Breakout Boards offer the perfect combination of performance and ease of use to add the finishing touches to your projects.

What is an OLED Display HAT?

An OLED Display HAT, for example for the Raspberry Pi, is an expansion module specifically designed to use an OLED display directly on a Raspberry Pi single board computer. HAT stands for "Hardware Attached on Top" and describes an expansion board that plugs directly onto the GPIO pins of the Raspberry Pi and communicates with it.

OLED display HATs offer the following advantages and features:

Easy integration:

Plugging the HAT onto the GPIO pins of the Raspberry Pi allows for easy and quick integration of the OLED display without additional wiring or soldering.

Compatibility:

OLED display HATs are generally compatible with various Raspberry Pi models, such as Raspberry Pi 3, 4 or Zero.

Programmability:

You can control the OLED display HAT with common programming languages like Python and use it to display text, graphics or even animations.

Application examples:

OLED display HATs are suitable for numerous applications, such as information displays, weather stations, user interfaces for IoT projects or simply to display system information and statistics.

Discover now the possibilities that an OLED display HAT offers for your Raspberry Pi and take your projects to a new level of visual representation and usability.
