Seeed Grove: Versatile Modules for Your Mini-Computer
Seeed Studio Grove is a modular open-source toolset that you can use immediately without extensive preparation. Its major advantage lies in its simplicity: unlike many other modules, Seeed Grove eliminates the need for a breadboard or additional electronic components to start your project.
The core of the Grove system is the Base Shield, which can be equipped with one or more additional modules depending on your specific project needs. Consequently, the Base Shield features various microprocessor inputs and outputs. Seeed Studio now offers over 300 different modules that can be connected to the Base Shield of your Grove system. Each module also includes demo code and clear, concise documentation to help you get started with your tech project right away.
The Grove OLED Display from Seeed Studio is an ideal component for your Raspberry Pi or Arduino. OLED displays offer significant advantages over LCDs: the new OLED technology does not require a backlight; instead, self-illuminating pixels create the image. This results in significantly better contrast, brightness, and image depth. At the same time, OLEDs are more energy-efficient and much thinner and lighter than LCDs. The facts clearly favor this newer display technology.
Seeed Studio offers two high-quality OLED screens. The Grove OLED Display 0.96 inch features a resolution of 128 x 64 pixels, excellent brightness and contrast, and a slim design. The screen is also equipped with a 4-pin I2C interface, making it easy to connect the module to your mini-computer. A particularly useful feature is the wide viewing angle, ensuring excellent visibility from various perspectives.
The slightly larger Grove OLED Display 1.12 inch boasts 16 grayscale levels and exceptional contrast, and is available in resolutions of 96 x 96 pixels (1.0) or 128 x 128 pixels. Like the smaller model, this screen communicates via a 4-wire I2C interface.
Pro Tip: If you want to connect the displays to your Raspberry Pi, you’ll also need the Grove Base Hat, which can be purchased affordably from Berrybase. If you intend to use the OLED screen with your Arduino, you’ll need to obtain a Grove Base Shield.

The module is based on the Bosch BME280 sensor and is an excellent choice as a precise and affordable environmental sensor. It reliably measures temperature (from -40 to 85°C), air pressure (300 to 1100 hPa), and humidity. Communication is possible via I2C or SPI. If your project involves controlling a stepper or DC motor with your Arduino, the Grove I2C Motor Driver is the perfect component. This powerful module can drive two brushed DC motors or a 4-wire two-phase stepper motor. Its dual-channel H-Bridge driver chip can handle currents of up to 2A per channel. Important: for smooth operation, a power supply of 6 to 15V is required. All driver lines are protected against back electromotive force by diodes. As with many other Grove modules, communication with the Arduino is handled via I2C.
