This is the FemtoBuck, a small single output constant current LED driver. Each FemtoBuck has the ability to dim a single high-power LED channel from 0-350mA at up to 36V, with dimming control via either PWM or an analogue signal of 0-2.5V. This board is based on the PicoBuck LED driver developed in collaboration with Ethan Zonca, except that instead of driving three different LEDs on three different channels, the FemtoBuck only drives one.

For the FemtoBuck, we have increased the voltage values of the components so that the input voltage can cover the full 36V range of the AL8805 driver. As the FemtoBuck is a constant current driver, the current drawn from the supply decreases as the supply voltage increases. In general, the efficiency of the FemtoBuck is around 95%, depending on the input voltage. On the circuit board of each FemtoBuck you will find two inputs for the current input and the dimming control pins as well as an area for installing a 3.5 mm screw terminal. Finally, you will find small indentations or "ears" on both sides of the board that allow you to use a cable tie to secure the wires after soldering them to the board. This version of the FemtoBuck is equipped with a small solder bridge that can be closed with a blob of solder to double the output current from 330mA to 660mA.
