Description
Product information "SparkFun Qwiic - PIR Sensor, 170uA, EKMC4607112K"
PIR sensors do not provide specific distance data, but monitor the IR light emitted by objects in their field of view and activate their signal when motion is detected in their detection area, making them perfect for applications where devices automatically switch on when motion is detected. Applications include home and building automation for energy saving, automatic switching on and off of lighting, security, household appliances and IoT.
Panasonic's low-profile PIR motion sensors (10.9mm compared to the standard 14.4mm height offers space savings for constrained designs) consist of a lens to create different detection zones, an optical filter to block non-infrared light, pyroelectric sensing elements, electromagnetic shielding for all circuitry and an impedance converter to obtain an electrical signal. This PIR sensor provides a digital output over 32 zones at a detection distance of 5 m and a detection area of 90° x 90°.
Note: The sensitivity of passive infrared sensors is affected by environmental conditions, so a performance evaluation test under representative conditions is recommended.
