This compact, inexpensive plastic geared motor (brushed DC motor with a 120:1 reduction gear) is well suited for use in small robots. It is designed to operate at 4.5 V, but should run comfortably in the 3 V to 6 V range. The gearbox has a D-shaped output shaft with a length of 9.7 mm and a diameter of 3 mm, which is perpendicular to the motor shaft, and a built-in safety clutch protects the gearbox from excessive loads.
