The Waveshare 2.9inch e-Paper Module is an electronic paper display with a resolution of 296 × 128 pixels and an integrated controller. It uses a serial SPI interface for communication and supports both full and partial image updates. The display operates without backlighting and retains the last displayed content even without a power supply. Due to its low power consumption, wide viewing angle and excellent readability in direct sunlight, the module is suitable for applications such as electronic shelf labels, industrial displays or battery-operated systems.

Thanks to its paper-like appearance, this display is particularly suitable for environments with changing light or low-power applications. The power consumption is largely limited to the update phases, which enables a long runtime with battery-powered operation. The module can be easily connected to control boards such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino or STM32 via the SPI interface.

The 2.9inch e-Paper module displays black and white content in two shades of grey. It does not require a backlight, but remains visible even without a power supply, as e-ink technology can hold the last display permanently. At rest, it consumes almost no power. An external controller such as a microcontroller board is connected via SPI. Sample codes for Raspberry Pi, Arduino and STM32 are included in the scope of delivery.

The display is suitable for electronic price tags, status displays in industrial environments or for projects where power consumption needs to be minimised. The high viewing angle stability over more than 170 degrees and the clear display in direct light enable versatile use in IoT, embedded systems or DIY applications.

The display can be used to show text, symbols or simple graphics. It works with a supply voltage of 3.3 V and uses the SPI interface to communicate with microcontrollers. No power is required to display an image, only to refresh the display. The display area measures approx. 66.89 mm × 29.05 mm. The module can be operated via a 3- or 4-wire SPI connection with the VCC, GND, DIN, CLK, CS, DC, RST and BUSY pins.
