The 13.3inch E Ink Spectra 6 (E6) Full Color E-Paper Display is a colour e-paper display with a resolution of 1600 × 1200 pixels. It uses E Ink Spectra 6 technology, which uses electrophoretic movements to make colour pigments such as black, white, red, yellow, blue and green visible. The display only requires power for updating and retains the last display permanently without any further power supply.
The display is passively reflective, which means that it utilises ambient light for display and provides clear images and text under natural light or lamp light. If an additional light source is required for use in poor lighting conditions, we recommend the EINLICHT Halo from the accessories. The display works with a greyscale colour depth of 2 and supports SPI communication for integration into control boards such as Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Arduino and STM32. The optional HAT+ version with standard driver board facilitates compatibility and enables rapid development.
Spectra 6 technology
E Ink Spectra 6 technology works by using electrophoretic movements in microscopic capsules containing electrically charged colour pigments. These pigments, such as black, white, red, yellow, blue and green, are moved to the surface by electric fields, making the desired colour visible. The display consists of a colour capsule layer, transparent electrodes and a reflective background layer. This design makes it possible for content to be displayed permanently without the need for continuous energy.
The e-paper display is used in a variety of projects, including IoT applications, where a resource-saving and energy-efficient solution is required. The paper-like character and viewing angle of up to 170° make the display suitable for mobile devices, industrial applications and other environments where low energy consumption and clear visualisation are crucial.
