Mit seiner offenen Architektur ist das Gerät auf einfache Erweiterbarkeit ausgelegt. Es kann ohne Clips oder Kleber geöffnet werden und bietet Zugang zu Lötpads und Pins. Ein breites Spektrum an Zigbee- und Matter-Geräten kann integriert werden. Der Adapter verfügt über einen USB-C-Anschluss und wird mit 5V DC bei einem Strombedarf von 500 mA betrieben.
Der Connect ZBT-2 unterstützt alle gängigen 2,4 GHz-Kanäle für Zigbee- und Thread-Kommunikation. Die Antenne besitzt einen omnidirektionalen Abstrahlwinkel und eine Spitzenverstärkung von 4,16 dBi. In Europa liegt die Sendeleistung bei 10dBm, im Rest der Welt bei 8dBm. Das Gehäuse besteht aus weißem und halbtransparentem Polycarbonat. Die Betriebstemperatur reicht von 0 bis 65°C, die Antenne ist im Bereich von -40 bis +85°C einsatzfähig.
Der Adapter dient dem Aufbau neuer Zigbee- oder Thread-Netzwerke sowie der Migration bestehender Netzwerke.
