This board is basically our ESP32-S3 TFT Feather, but with the 240x135 colour TFT display on the back instead of the front. This makes it great for panel mounted projects, especially since we also have room for 3 buttons to go with it. It's like an all-in-one display interface device board powered by the awesome ESP32-S3 WIFI module.

The Feather comes with native USB and 4 MB Flash + 2 MB PSRAM, making it perfect for use with CircuitPython or Arduino with low-cost WiFi. Native USB means it can function like a keyboard or drive. WiFi means it's great for IoT projects. And Feather means it works with the large community of Feather Wings, making it expandable.

The ESP32-S3 is a highly integrated, low-power 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi/BLE system-on-chip (SoC) solution with integrated USB and some other exciting new technologies such as time-of-flight ranging and AI acceleration. With its state-of-the-art power and RF performance, this SoC is the ideal choice for a variety of application scenarios related to the Internet of Things (IoT), wearable electronics and smart homes.

The Feather ESP32-S3 has a dual-core 240 MHz chip, so it is comparable to the dual-core ESP32. However, there is no Bluetooth Classic support, only Bluetooth LE. This chip is a big step forward compared to the earlier ESP32-S2! The ESP32-S3 mini module that we use in the Feather has 4 MB Flash and 2 MB PSRAM as well as plenty of 512 KB SRAM. It is therefore perfect for use with CircuitPython or whenever large buffers are required: For fast memory access use SRAM, for slower but more spacious access use PSRAM. It is also ideal for use in ESP-IDF or with Arduino support.

The colour TFT is connected to the SPI pins and uses additional pins for control that are not visible on the breakout pads. The backlight is also connected to a separate pin so that you can make it swell and dim as you wish using PWM.
The Feather has a 3.3 V regulator with a low dropout for low-current operation. The regulator is controlled via a GPIO pin on the enable line and can switch off the power to the Stemma QT port and the TFT. There is also a separate power pin for the NeoPixel that can be used to switch it off to reduce quiescent current. When everything is off and in deep sleep mode, the TFT spring consumes about 100uA of current.

Low power friendly! In deep sleep mode, we can reduce the current consumption of the Lipoly connector to 40~50uA. The quiescent current comes from the power regulator, the ESP32-S2 chip and the Lipoly monitor. Switch off the NeoPixel and the external I2C/TFT power supply to achieve the lowest quiescent current consumption.
