Add short-hop wireless to your Feather with these RadioFruit Featherwings. With these add-ons for any Feather board, you can integrate packet radio (with the RFM69 radio) or LoRa radios (with the RFM9x radios) . These radios are good options for radios with kilometre range, and paired with one of our WLAN, cellular or Bluetooth feeders you can create a bridge from 433/900 MHz to the internet or mobile devices.

These radios come in four variants (two modulation types and two frequencies) The RFM69's are the easiest to use, and they are well known and understood. The LoRa radios are exciting, have a greater range and are more powerful, but also more expensive.

This is the RFM69 @ 433 MHz version,These are +20dBm FSK packet radios that include lots of nice extras like encryption and auto retransmission. They can achieve at least 500 metres line of sight with simple wire antennas, probably up to 5 km with directional antennas and setting adjustments.

Currently tested for use with the Feather ESP8266, Feather 32u4, WICED Feather, Teensy 3 Feather and Feather M0 series, some wiring is required to configure the FeatherWing for the chipset you wish to use.

All radios are sold individually and can only talk to radios of the same part number. E.g. RFM69 900 MHz can only talk to RFM69 900 MHz, LoRa 433 MHz can only talk to LoRa 433, etc.

Each radio wing comes with a header. To attach the header, some solder is required. You will need to cut and solder a small piece of wire (a solid or stranded core is fine), to make your antenna. Optionally, you can pick up a uFL or SMA edge connector and attach an external antenna.
