Give your Feather some direction with an Ultimate GPS FeatherWing. In 2013, the Ultimate GPS module was released to fulfil all GPS desires - and now its power and versatility plus more has been brought to the Feather series with the Adafruit Ultimate GPS FeatherWing! This FeatherWing plugs directly into your Feather board and gives it a precise, sensitive and low-power GPS module for location identification anywhere in the world. As a bonus, the GPS can also track the time once it is synchronised with the satellites.
Works with all Feathers except those with USB-to-serial converters that use the UART pins. For now, this means that the ESP8266 Huzzah Feather and the nRF52 Feather will not work

The Wing is based on the MTK3339 chipset, a simple, high-quality GPS module that can track up to 22 satellites on 66 channels, has an excellent high-sensitivity receiver (-165 dB tracking!) and a built-in antenna. It can perform up to 10 location updates per second for high-speed and high-sensitivity logging or tracking. Power consumption is incredibly low, only 20 mA during navigation.

The MTK3339-based module has external antenna functionality. The module has a standard ceramic patch antenna, which gives it a sensitivity of -165 dB, but if you want a larger antenna, you can plug in any active 3V GPS antenna via the uFL connector . The module will automatically recognise the active antenna and switch over! Most GPS antennas use SMA connectors, so you may want to use a uFL to SMA adapter.

We've added a few extra goodies to make this GPS FeatherWing better than a breakout: a FET-driven ENABLE pin so you can switch off the module with any microcontroller pin for low power consumption, a CR1220 coin cell holder to keep the RTC running and allow warm starts, and a tiny bright red LED. The LED flashes at about 1Hz while searching for satellites, and flashes once every 15 seconds when a fix is found, to save power.

Supplied as a fully assembled FeatherWing with GPS module and a coin cell holder. However, the 12mm button cell is not included - it is not required, but if you want a battery backup, a CR1220 button cell must be purchased separately. There is also a header included so you can solder it in and plug it into your Feather.
