With the SparkFun Cryptographic Development Kit, you get everything you need to learn the basics of cryptographic authentication and use the ATECC508A Cryptographic Co-Processor Breakout to add a higher level of security to your projects.

In this kit, you get a pair of our SparkFun ATECC508A Cryptographic Co-Processor Breakout that allows you to easily add strong authentication security to your IoT node, edge device or embedded system. This board includes two Qwiic ports for plug-and-play functionality. By using our convenient Qwiic system, no soldering is required to connect it to the rest of your system. Nevertheless, we have broken out the pins at 0.1" spacing in case you prefer to use a breadboard. The ATECC508A chip is suitable for many cryptographic methods, including but not limited to:

Generating and securely storing unique asymmetric key pairs based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (FIPS186-3).
Creation and verification of 64-byte digital signatures (from 32-byte message data).
Creation of a shared secret key on a public channel using the Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman algorithm.
A standard hash-based challenge-response protocol using an SHA-256 algorithm.
High quality internal FIPS random number generator.

Two SparkFun RedBoard Artemis boards are also included in this kit. Think of the RedBoard Artemis as another Arduino, but with BLE and one megabyte of flash and running at less than 1 mA. The RedBoard Artemis takes SparkFun's incredibly powerful Artemis module and packs it into an easy-to-use and familiar Uno package. Along with the SparkFun original boards you get two reversible USB A to C cables, two 50mm flexible Qwiic cables and a pack of 10 M/M jumper wires.

Note: Please read the connection instructions fully before using this board. The chip can only be configured before it is PERMANENTLY is locked. It is advisable to purchase multiple boards to use other configurations and explore the advanced features of the ATECC508A.

In addition, this board is NOT capable of encrypting and decrypting data. However, it can perform some cryptographic authentication processes, such as secure private key creation, secure key storage, and digital signature creation and verification.

It is recommended to use an Artemis microcontroller board with this product due to the buffer size required on the I2C bus.
