Description
Product information "Arduino Motor Shield Rev 3"
The Arduino Motor Shield is based on the L298, a dual full-bridge driver designed to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC motors and stepper motors. It allows you to control two DC motors with your Arduino board, controlling the speed and direction of each motor independently. You can also measure the current consumption of each motor, among other functions. The shield is compatible with TinkerKit, which means you can quickly create projects by connecting TinkerKit modules to the board.
Features at a glance
- Based on the L298 full bridge driver
- Control of two DC motors or one stepper motor
- Compatible with TinkerKit modules
- Measurement of the current consumption of the motors possible
- Operating voltage: 5V to 12V
- Motor controller: L298P
- Maximum current: 2A per channel or 4A max. (with external power supply)
- Current measurement: 1.65V/A

Arduino: The all-rounder among IoT platforms
Hardly any other platform offers makers such a high-quality and versatile software and hardware package as Arduino. The success story begins in 2005, when the two passionate IT people Massimo Banzi and David Cuartielles develop the first Arduino, in Italy, and immediately hit the bull's eye. Within three years, no less than 50,000 copies of the compact single-board computer were sold, after which dozens of other Arduino models followed and also became top sellers. In the meantime, the platform has long since achieved cult status among hobby tinkerers.
One important reason for its success is that the hardware modules are extremely versatile and flexible thanks to their numerous inputs and outputs. With the help of Serial Read, the Arduino effortlessly reads out all desired commands. Whether you want to control displays or motors, or take measurements using sensors: Arduino always has the ideal hardware component in stock.
By the way, contrary to what is often claimed, Arduino boards cannot be used as a replacement for the Raspberry Pi, because unlike the mini-computer with the raspberry, the Arduino is dependent on an external computer. However, depending on the project, an Arduino board can be used in combination with a Raspberry Pi.
