Product information "seeed Grove - 6 Port I2C Hub"
The Grove - I2C Hub (6 Port) is an extended version of the previously released 4-port hub and offers two additional connections with the same size. The module is designed to multiply I2C connections and allows multiple I2C-enabled Grove modules to be connected to a single I2C port on a microcontroller board or base shield. The board has six Grove slots - one input and five outputs - and supports daisy-chaining multiple hubs to further expand the I2C infrastructure.
The I2C protocol is based on a 7-bit addressing scheme, allowing up to 128 devices to be operated on one bus. Despite the large number of Grove I2C modules available, the number of corresponding slots on mainboards such as the Seeeduino or the Grove Base Shield is usually limited. The I2C Hub remedies this by providing additional physical connection options without expanding the logical address space. In addition to I2C signals, synchronous control commands for other devices, such as LEDs, can also be transmitted via the hub.
The compact design with a size of 20 × 40 mm facilitates integration into existing setups. The expansion of the slots was based on user feedback on the original 4-port version. The ability to connect multiple hubs in series supports the modular and scalable design of projects, particularly in the area of prototyping and system integration of I2C sensors or actuators.
