The Grove - LoRa Radio 433MHz module is based on the RFM95 module, which uses the SX1276 LoRa chip. This offers ultra-long-range spread spectrum communication with high interference immunity and low power consumption. The module is optimised for Grove systems and integrates an ATmega168 microcontroller, which is known for its high performance and low power consumption.
A simple wire antenna is fitted as standard. If the signal is too weak, an external high-performance antenna can be connected via the existing MHF connection. For optimum performance, we recommend positioning the antenna perpendicular to the circuit board and as straight as possible. Large metal objects near the antenna and metal housings should be avoided.
The product is used to expand Grove systems with a wireless LoRa communication interface in the 433 MHz frequency range. It is suitable for long-range IoT applications, especially where reliable wireless data transmission with low energy consumption is required. Typical applications include sensor networks, remote monitoring, data loggers and other embedded systems that need to communicate wirelessly.
The existing MHF socket allows the use of external high-performance antennas for signal enhancement if required.
The module can be used for wireless data transmission over long distances. It combines low power consumption in standby and receive mode with a powerful transmission function. The average current consumption is approx. 28 mA for continuous transmission at +20 dBm, approx. 8.4 mA in standby mode and approx. 20 mA in receive mode. Communication takes place via UART.
By using the Grove connector system, the module can be easily integrated into existing projects. Thanks to the ATmega168 chip, stable operation with low power consumption is possible. The wire antenna ensures simple initial commissioning; if reception is weak, an external antenna with a higher gain can be used via the MHF connection.
